Animal licenses are processed in the Utilities Office, located on the upper level of City Hall.

  1. To apply for or renew an animal license, please complete our online form, or visit our office during business hours.
  2. Email supporting documents to the utilities email, or bring them to our office.

  4. Once the application process is completed, the animal tag will be mailed to you.

In order to apply for the City Animal License, please bring current proof of rabies vaccination issued by a licensed veterinarian, and if applicable, a certificate of spay or neuter by a licensed veterinarian. The City is not able to issue a license without the rabies certificate.

City License Fees Schedule

Dog and cat licenses may be purchased from the city or authorized designee upon the payment of a license fee as follows:

If a person is 65 years of age or over and certifies to Utilities under oath that he or she is over this age and is the owner of the cat or dog to be licensed, his/her license fee will be 50 percent of the fees.

Fee Cost
A duplicate license tag may be obtained upon payment of a replacement fee from Utilities. No person or owner may use any license for any animal other than the animal for which it was issued. $3
All cat and dog owners shall purchase licenses from January 1st through February 28th after which date a late charge fee will be assessed. The licensing period will be from January 1st through December 31st of each year.

An owner before reclaiming an impounded cat shall pay a fee of $25 plus $10 board fee for each calendar day the animal has been impounded; $25+
An owner before reclaiming an impounded dog shall pay a fee of $25 for the first offense, and $50 for the second, and $100 for all subsequent offenses. Impound fees for dogs shall cover a period of 24 hours, after said time period an additional fee of $10 for each calendar day shall be added. $25+
If the impounded animal is unlicensed and its owner has been a resident for over 60 days, the owner shall pay a fine of $25 over and above the impoundment fees. The owner shall be required to license the animal at the time of reclaiming his/her animal. $25+
In addition to the regulations imposed with regard to both potentially dangerous dogs and dangerous dogs, an additional registration fee applies. Potentially Dangerous - $150/Renewal $50
