FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
City of Oak Harbor is Recognized as a 2025 WellCity
March 7, 2025 – The City of Oak Harbor is proud to announce its recognition by the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) as one of the 2025 WellCities, an honor that reflects a healthy, sustainable workplace for employees. This recognition was awarded to 123 organizations across Washington State who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to employee health, and the City of Oak Harbor is one of them!
As a 2025 WellCity, the City will receive a 2% premium discount on its AWC Employee Benefit Trust active medical premiums in 2026, a cost-saving benefit for the community. The best part is that City staff is rewarded with a healthy workplace culture that enhances employee well-being, improves productivity, and creates a positive environment.
“Being named a WellCity is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the City’s Wellness Committee to build a workplace that values health and well-being,” said Mayor Wright. “We are proud of this recognition, because a healthy workplace promotes positivity at work, and it shows throughout all platforms and in our community.”
WellCity is also a place where employees are supported, engaged, and empowered to take care of their health. For example, this month, City staff can attend a free workshop on practicing mindful bedtime routines that promote quality sleep and calmness.
“As Mayor, I will continue to support the WellCity values to empower our staff and promote a healthy workplace. We benefit as the employer, and the community benefits from tax savings, so it’s a win for everyone.”
