[ARCHIVED] A Message from Puget Sound Energy - Incoming Weather System

Active weather system has arrived and will be with us for most of the week. Please see the below summary:

An active pattern this week as we rapidly transition from fire season to storm season and where there will be several periods of gusty winds impacting the service territory. As a result, we should expect numerous outages over the course of the week, especially due to vegetation still flush with leaves. The first wave in the series is knocking on the doorsteps and will arrive over the next 5-6 hours with a band of moderate rain. More importantly is a tight compact low pressure center that’s likely to produce wind gusts of 30-45 mph over Island, Whatcom, and Skagit Counties today through 11 am. Winds will also be breezy across the Puget Sound mid-morning with gusts of 22-32 mph. After a break tonight and tomorrow morning, an unseasonably strong low pressure system will track off the Washington Coast tomorrow afternoon and evening w/moderate to heavy rain and a band of strong winds crashing inland across W. Washington. Wind gusts of 30-45+ mph are likely Tuesday from 4-10 pm, strongest near Puget Sound waters. A break is expected early Wednesday as the stalls offshore, then followed by another bout of rain and wind Wednesday afternoon into Thursday as the low tracks closer to the Washington Coast. Most important, it’s likely to be an active week with several outages likely across W. Washington, starting today from 7-11 am, then Tuesday 3-10 pm.
