[ARCHIVED] Oak Harbor’s Finance Director David Goldman Appointed to Serve on NLC Committee

Finance Director Goldman was appointed to serve a one-year term on the National League of Cities’ Finance, Administration & Intergovernmental Relations Committee. Director Goldman will provide valuable insights and perspectives to the Committee to better inform conversations regarding the needs of small and medium-sized cities like Oak Harbor, particularly ones that have a strong military presence. 

“I am honored to serve on this committee,” said Director Goldman. “I am eager to bring my 25 years of multidisciplinary experience in local government to the federal level to be able to work with my colleagues on this committee to shape policies that will make a difference in cities across the country.”

The National League of Cities (NLC) is an organization comprised of city, town, and village leaders that are focused on improving the quality of life for their current and future constituents. With nearly 100 years of dedication to the strength and advancement of local governments, NLC has gained the trust and support of more than 2,700 cities across the nation. Their mission is to relentlessly advocate for, and protect the interests of, cities, towns, and villages by influencing federal policy, strengthening local leadership, and driving innovative solutions.

The Finance, Administration and Intergovernmental Relations Committee is responsible for developing policy positions and leading NLC’s advocacy on issues involving intergovernmental relations (including Federalism and unfunded mandates), Census, municipal pensions, municipal bonds and capital finance, tax reform, antitrust issues, civil rights, and labor relations.

The leadership of this year’s committee will consist of:

  • Chair - Mayor Mark Shepherd, City of Clearfield, UT
  • Vice Chair – Mayor Sue Osborn, City of Fenton, MI
  • Vice Chair – Mayor Pro-Tempore Brandon Jones, City of Lewisville, TX.
