FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Community BBQ & Forum on the Future of the Marina
Oak Harbor, WA – June 12, 2025 – There's been a lot of talk about what's next for the Oak Harbor Marina, and the City wants to hear from you. Join us for The Wright Blend – BBQ and Conversation with Mayor Wright and Public Forum to share your thoughts, take a tour and ask questions.
It made sense to host June’s The Wright Blend event right on the waterfront, so the community could tour the Oak Harbor Marina and ask questions. This month, The Wright Blend event isn't just about hamburgers, but a chance to weigh in on the big decisions coming up in the next few weeks. The Oak Harbor Marina is facing some real challenges, and your input will help guide a workshop scheduled for July 22 and a City Council vote on August 6.
“We’ve heard some concerns about using City funds for this event on social media,” said Communications Officer, Magi Aguilar. “This event is similar to the public forums we’ve hosted regarding the Redevelopment of Downtown & Waterfront District these last few months, it’s about encouraging people to show up so offering food during dinnertime helps make that possible. I hope everyone who has concerns, questions or opinions about the Marina or any other City matter attends, because it doesn’t get more personal and real than this. The Mayor and Councilmembers will be onsite to answer questions face to face. ”
The City would like to invite all members of the public to enjoy some BBQ, warm weather, and beautiful Marina views. We look forward to seeing the community at the BBQ on June 20th at Catalina Park (1301 SE Catalina Dr, Oak Harbor) from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Seating will be available, but encourage the public to bring their lawn chairs or picnic blanket.
