Legal

The Legal department provides the following legal services to the City staff, City leadership, Mayor, and City Councilmembers:

  • Creating contracts/amendments, ordinances, resolutions, and approving agenda bills.
  • Provides legal advice and other legal documents for staff.
  • Representing the City in court proceedings for lawsuits brought against the City or filed on the City's behalf. 
  • Prosecuting offenses under the Oak Habor Municipal Code.
  • Responding to Public Record Requests from the public.
  • Assisting the Oak Harbor Police Department with Domestic Violence assistance.
  • Receive and process the Claim for Damages Form.

The Legal department does not provide representation to individual citizens or community groups/organizations and is strictly prohibited from providing legal advice to others.
