Arts Plan
Public artistic expressions in all forms enrich our community's cultural, economic, educational, and social fabric, benefiting the health and wellness of Oak Harbor's residents and visitors. To enhance economic health and quality of life through public art and programs, the City of Oak Harbor has developed its FIRST Arts Master Plan.
The plan covers the following topics:
1. Inventory of current public art and recommendation of future opportunities for placemaking and art installations.
2. Development of recommendations for Arts Programs and Cultural Events.
3. Establishes processes for art consignment, artist calls, and best practices to support local artists.
4. Informative art updates and resources.
5. Outlines policy best practices to inform Arts Commission & City Council decisions on public art.
6. Identifies future funding sources and partnership opportunities.
Project Highlights
Throughout the project timeline, the project team has hosted a series of outreach events,
including public drop-in sessions, focus group interviews, and project surveys, from April 2024
through October 2024. It was an important goal to host engagement events with local organizations,
visit galleries and music venues, and have conversations with residents.
