[ARCHIVED] The City of Oak Harbor Received the 2022 Wastewater Treatment Plant Outstanding Performance Award

The City started treating wastewater at the Clean Water Facility (CWF) in November 2018. The City is excited to announce that they received this award. The Washington State Department of Ecology (WA DOE) presented this award to staff in 1999, 2001, 2004, 2006-2008, 2012-2015.

The notification from WA DOE states, “Oak Harbor has a great record as one of the top municipal wastewater treatment plants in Washington based on effluent limits and overall environmental compliance. [Washington State Department of] Ecology would like to commend the team for their perseverance, dedication, and award-winning efforts. It takes pronounced focus and teamwork to operate and maintain a treatment plant in top-running order.”

To receive this award, staff had to meet compliance standards set forth by the WA DOE and new requirements to receive information from local businesses about their disposal methods and products used at their locations in Oak Harbor.

Mayor Bob Severns will present the award to the staff at the August 23 City Council Workshop meeting in appreciation and recognition of their excellent service to the community and waters in Washington State.
