  • Every March and August, liveaboards must complete a vessel seaworthy/operational demonstration. This demonstration can be completed anytime in March when the marina is open and staffed, with 2 hours’ notice to the office.  The marina will be open and staffed in March, from 7:00-6pm, Monday - Saturday, so please plan accordingly.  *You must call the marina office at 360.279.4575 to notify us of your demonstration.
*Once you get out to R-2 please remember to snap a selfie of yourself with R-2 in the background and then text it to 360.279.4575.
  • Minimum Vessel Size and Operational Requirements:

“… All liveaboard vessels must demonstrate seaworthiness and operational ability by cruising out under power, to red channel marker R-2 and back in March and August of each year.  The seaworthiness / operational demonstration must occur during times when the marina is open and staffed.  The liveaboard must notify the Harbormaster 2 hours prior to departure for the seaworthy / operational demonstration and when the vessel returns to the slip.  If a vessel breaks down during the seaworthiness / operational demonstration it will be the owner’s responsibility to remedy the situation and/or have it towed back into the marina.  The owner will then have 21 days to repair the vessel and complete the seaworthiness / operational demonstration.  If a vessel breaks down for a 2nd time the liveaboard status may be terminated. “Failure to conduct and/or complete the seaworthiness / operational demonstration will result in the termination of liveaboard status.”

Vessel Seaworthy/Operational demonstration can be required for any vessels in the Oak Harbor Marina.
